That product you get from bringing effort in contact with positive reinforcement very often, usually cultivated in childhood. The bottleneck between hard work / talent and outside rewards that, after a point of time in one's teenage years, lulls you into a feeling of false security that you will always have a treat waiting after every goal.
This one seemingly harmless risk tends to be the dangerous one, which leads to even more risk - mainly, the risk of disappointment and (in worst-case scenarios) collapse of many relationships.
